Charissa started off in the industry in her teens, when she received her Cosmetology License. She has worked in community parks and recreation, campus recreation, association management and resort recreation. At Illinois she directed several statewide health and community development initiative including the Illinois Rural Recreation Development Project, Illinois Senior Wellness Initiative, Live Well Be Well and the Pathways to Health Project. Her work has been funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois Department of Human Services, National Recreation Foundation, United States Department of Agriculture and the National Institutes of Health. She focuses on an integrative approach by interacting with campus communities, the public and strategic partners to involve them in recreation and athletic programming and drive revenue. She served in an emergency hire marketing capacity at San Francisco State University during the 2017 opening of the Mashouf Wellness Center, an $80 million dollar state of the art, LEED platinum recreation facility. Most recently, Jen served as the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications with the University of Denver Division of Athletics & Recreation.
